Hostess: Last July, a college student from Tsinghua University was killed in a mountain climbing accident. The accident brought back memories of a smilar accident two years ago, when five students from Peking University died while scaling a mountain in the Himalayas. How do you value the challenge that they set themselves?
1) First of all, let me convey my deepest regret for the loss of six brave lives in their conquering of the Himalayas, as well as my sincerest sympathy to their family, friends and all those they loved and having loved them.
2) Second, I think the universities should conduct proper investigation into the two accidents. Was it due to insufficient training, lack of equipments or delayed rescue on site? We must draw lessons from it, and enact proper measures to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
3) Third, I believe courage and bravery contribute to the progress of human civilization. Therefore, we must pay tribute to them, as well as countless others in our history, for their courage, bravery and great sacrifice to the world.
4) Last but not least, I suggest we should all cherish our lives.
